Description
EGF drives mitogen-activated protein kinase and phosphoinositide 3-kinase signaling cascades that regulate cell proliferation, survival, and differentiation across epithelial, mesenchymal, and neural lineages. This recombinant fragment, spanning residues 971–1023 of the pro-EGF precursor and expressed in mammalian cells, demonstrates potent bioactivity with an ED50 ≤0.3 ng/mL in NIH3T3 fibroblast proliferation assays, confirming its capacity to engage EGFR with physiologically relevant affinity. The mammalian expression platform supports native post-translational modifications that preserve receptor-binding conformation, making this protein appropriate for cell proliferation and survival assays, stem cell or osteogenic differentiation protocols, and receptor-ligand competition studies by ELISA or surface plasmon resonance.
