BAG2

BAG2 encodes the BCL2-associated athanogene 2 protein, also commonly known as DKFZp564G1911. This protein is a member of the BAG family, which modulates the anti - apoptotic activity of Bcl - 2. BAG2 binds to the ATPase domain of Hsc70/Hsp70 and regulates chaperone activity. It is involved in the PI3K - Akt signaling pathway, which is crucial for cell survival and growth.
Dysregulation of BAG2 has been linked to various diseases, such as neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. In cancer, it may contribute to tumor cell survival and resistance to chemotherapy. Currently, research is ongoing to develop drugs that target the interaction between BAG2 and its binding partners, aiming to disrupt the signaling pathways and combat related diseases.
