CARD14

CARD14, caspase recruitment domain family member 14 or PRP, is a member of the MAGUK family. This protein, derived from human genes, plays a central role in immune and inflammatory responses by activating the NF-κB signaling pathway. CARD14 is particularly abundant in skin cells, where it is essential for maintaining the skin barrier and protecting against external pathogens. Abnormal activation of CARD14 is closely associated with the development of skin diseases such as psoriasis, potentially due to its role in promoting keratinocyte proliferation and inflammatory responses. Therefore, CARD14 is not only crucial for understanding skin biology and immune regulation but also represents a promising target for developing new therapies for skin disorders.
