DIABLO

DIABLO, also known as the SMAC mimic protein of apoptosis-inducing factor, is encoded by the DIABLO gene and is located in the mitochondrial gap. It plays a role in cellular stress responses by promoting apoptosis and inhibiting the activity of IAPs (inhibitors of apoptosis proteins), thus facilitating programmed cell death. DIABLO is involved in the cell's response to oxidative stress and DNA damage and is implicated in the regulation of cell survival and death balance. Its abnormal expression is related to diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, making it a potential target for apoptosis research and related disease treatments.
