IL1R2

IL1R2 encodes the Interleukin-1 receptor type II protein, also commonly known as CD121b. It functions as a decoy receptor for interleukin-1 (IL-1), binding to IL-1 without transducing a signal, thus regulating the activity of IL-1. This protein is involved in the IL-1 signaling pathway, which is crucial for immune and inflammatory responses.
Dysregulation of IL1R2 has been associated with various diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and certain types of cancer. In drug development, targeting IL1R2 is being explored as a potential strategy to modulate the IL-1 pathway and treat these related diseases, but more research is needed to fully realize its therapeutic potential.
