MICB

The MICB gene encodes the MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence B protein. Also known as MHC class I chain-related protein B, it is a critical component of the immune system. MICB binds to the NKG2D receptor on natural killer (NK) cells and some T cells, activating immune responses. This interaction is involved in the NKG2D-mediated signaling pathway, which helps the immune system recognize and eliminate infected or stressed cells.
Dysregulation of MICB is associated with several diseases, including certain cancers and autoimmune disorders. In cancer, abnormal expression of MICB can affect immune surveillance. Currently, there is ongoing research to develop drugs targeting the MICB-NKG2D interaction for immunotherapy, aiming to enhance anti - tumor immune responses.
