NKX2-1

NKX2-1, also known as TTF-1, is a transcription factor with a specific homeodomain that is crucial for the morphogenesis and differentiation of the thyroid, lung, and ventral forebrain. The protein encoded by NKX2-1 contains specific amino acid sequences and conserved domains that can interact with DNA or other proteins to regulate gene expression. NKX2-1 participates in regulating the properties of neuronal progenitor cells, mediating the specification of neuronal subtypes, and guiding neuronal migration, while also involving in multiple important neural developmental signaling pathways. Furthermore, mutations and deletions in NKX2-1 are associated with various diseases, including benign hereditary chorea, congenital hypothyroidism, and neonatal respiratory distress, and may be related to the occurrence of diseases such as thyroid cancer and neural tube defects.
