NR2E3

As a member of the large family of nuclear receptor transcription factors, NR2E3 possesses structural characteristics of a transcription factor, providing a foundation for its pivotal role in regulating gene expression. Functionally, NR2E3 serves not only as an activator of rod cell development in the retina but also as an inhibitor of cone cell development. It regulates the expression of various specific genes by binding to their promoter regions. Regarding signaling pathways, although the specific mechanisms are not yet fully understood, NR2E3 may affect intracellular signal transduction processes by regulating the expression of downstream genes, thereby achieving fine-tuned control over cell development and function.
