PPP2R1A

PPP2R1A encodes the protein phosphatase 2 scaffold subunit A alpha, commonly known as PR65α. As a core component of serine/threonine phosphatase PP2A, it regulates enzyme assembly and substrate specificity. It participates in multiple signaling pathways including Wnt/β-catenin and PI3K/Akt, controlling cell cycle progression and apoptosis.
Mutations in PPP2R1A are linked to various cancers, such as endometrial and colorectal carcinomas, often due to loss of tumor suppressor function. Current research focuses on developing PP2A activators like FTY720 derivatives, though clinical applications targeting PPP2R1A remain experimental.
