PROCR

The protein encoded by the gene PROCR is known as Protein C Receptor, also referred to as EPCR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Protein-C). This receptor is activated by the serine protease activated protein C (APC) and plays a crucial role in the blood coagulation pathway. Its mechanism involves the regulation of thrombin generation and the modulation of inflammation and endothelial cell function. PROCR is involved in various signaling pathways, including the ERK, PI3K–Akt–mTOR, and RhoA–ROCK pathways. Diseases associated with PROCR include thrombosis and inflammation-related disorders. In terms of drug development, research is ongoing to identify novel therapies that target PROCR for the treatment of these conditions.
