STAT6, signal transducer and activator of transcription 6, is a transcription factor encoded by the STAT6 gene, which plays a role mainly in the immune system.The mechanism of action of STAT6 is activated by phosphorylation of Janus kinase (JAK) through binding to the receptor for cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-13, which in turn form homo- or heterodimers and translocate to the nucleus, regulating the expression of specific genes. It regulates the expression of specific genes. The signalling pathway involves the JAK/STAT6 pathway, which plays an important role in regulating the Th2-type immune response, promoting IgE production by B cells, and influencing cell proliferation and differentiation. Biologically, STAT6 is essential for the maintenance of immune homeostasis and is involved in inflammatory responses and anti-parasite immunity, etc. Abnormal activation of STAT6 has been associated with a variety of diseases, including allergic diseases such as asthma, and some types of cancer.
