VAMP2, vesicle-associated membrane protein 2, alias synaptobrevin-2, is a protein that plays a key role in neurotransmitter release and is mainly expressed specifically in the nervous system.VAMP2, as one of the key components of soluble cell membranes, participates in the formation of the SNARE (Soluble Cell Membrane Activity Factor Attachment Protein Receptor) complex, which binds to syntaxin- 1A and SNAP-25 to generate the force that induces the formation of fusion pore, thus mediating the fusion of synaptic vesicles and neurotransmitter release.
