Description
GDF6 (BMP-13) plays a critical role in joint, tendon, and cartilage development, making it a key tool for investigating chondrogenic and osteogenic differentiation pathways. This tag-free recombinant human GDF6, encompassing the full mature protein (aa 336–455), demonstrates robust biological activity with an ED50 below 2.0 μg/ml in ATDC5 alkaline phosphatase induction assays, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 500 IU/mg—data that supports use in stem cell differentiation studies, receptor-ligand binding assays via SPR or ELISA, and in vivo cartilage regeneration models. The E. coli expression system produces a non-glycosylated homodimer that enables precise structure-activity analyses without glycan heterogeneity, while purity greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 0.1 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for cell-based differentiation assays and sensitive in vivo applications.
