Description
Noggin functions as a high-affinity antagonist of bone morphogenetic proteins, making it a critical regulator in developmental biology and stem cell fate decisions. This mammalian-expressed protein, spanning the full mature sequence (aa 28–232), demonstrates potent BMP-4 inhibition with an ED50 of 2.0–3.0 ng/ml in ATDC-5 chondrogenic alkaline phosphatase assays, providing a quantitative benchmark for experiments requiring precise modulation of BMP signaling. The validated activity supports use in osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation studies, where controlled BMP antagonism directs mesenchymal stem cell lineage commitment, as well as in receptor-ligand competition assays designed to map BMP binding interfaces. Produced without tags to preserve native structure and exceeding 95% purity with endotoxin levels ≤10 EU/mg, this preparation meets the quality thresholds commonly required for mechanistic studies of skeletal development and for in vitro models investigating BMP pathway dysregulation in fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva and related disorders.
